Kevin Akerley, 2nd year apprentice and Greg Leonard, 4th year apprentice were honored at the January meeting for the commendable actions of stepping forward and using the First Aid and CPR training that they received at the J.A.T.C. to help potentially save a life.
Kevin encountered a homeless individual who was unresponsive. Without hesitation Kevin performed CPR on this person until the paramedic arrived and transported him to the local hospital.
Greg observed an individual showing signs of distress and full obstruction. He asked the person if they wanted assistance and the victim answered yes with a nod. Greg implemented the Heimlich maneuver successfully. Greg was the only person in this establishment to step forward and he saved this man's life.
